"Quilts of the Santa Fe Trail"
By Seth McFarland
The new exhibit is now open for viewing. Featuring twelve unique quilts sewn by members of the Kansas DAR chapters exclusively for this exhibit which will be on display through the first of September.
Thank you to all of the Kansas DAR Chapters who participated.
To recognize the travelers of the Santa Fe Trail, Kansas
Chapters of the Daughters of the American Revolution were asked to create
quilts commemorating the bicentennial of the opening of the Santa Fe Trail in
1821. The Trail remained an
international commercial highway shared by multiple cultures until 1880 at the completion
of the railroad. Kansas communities
along the Santa Fe Trail have worked to preserve the remnants of that trail in
a variety of ways.
